Coding Horror

Coding Horror Logo

I'm Jeff Atwood. I live in Berkeley, CA with my wife, two cats, one three children, and a whole lot of computers. I was weaned as a software developer on various implementations of Microsoft BASIC in the 80's, starting with my first microcomputer, the Texas Instruments TI-99/4a. I continued on the PC with Visual Basic 3.0 and Windows 3.1 in the early 90's, although I also spent significant time writing Pascal code in the first versions of Delphi.

I am a moderator over at the PHP Developer’s Network forums. You may find me under the username “The Ninja Space Goat” (yes, I know it’s a rather unusual username, but I’m a rather unusual guy … or so they say).

Distributions [LWN.net]

LWN.net Logo

Debian and Ubuntu have a set of official membership roles that can be granted to regular contributors. Those roles come with rights that enable the contributors to do their work and to participate in the project governance (elections and other official decision-making processes). It's also a way for the distributions to acknowledge the work done: most contributors are proud of the status they reached.
