Welcome to webSemantics - Rich, usable, engaging and accessible solutions

tags: web, design

Hi, I'm Mike Foskett and welcome to my "work" website. The key to a high-performance websites is to focus on improving front-end performance and that, as a front-end engineer, is what I do. Here I publish small code snippets with the intent to help make the web quicker and more accessible. Most of the code samples presented were developed while working for a Government agency whose copyright allows non-profit publication for the common good.

Welie.com - Patterns in Interaction Design

tags: web, design
Welie logo

This site contains a lot of best practices in Interaction Design. Over the years I have collected examples and insight on their applicability that I share with you here on this site. So there is really no 'original' design to be found here, sorry. It has all been done before...See it as a reference or basic 'toolkit' you can use when designing user experiences. It is no substitute for creative design, it simply seeks to describe what we know and have...

Reuse, recycle, but don’t reinvent the wheel unless necessary. by Brian Christiansen at UI Engineering. Via. This collection captures findings of consistent, unique or interesting interfaces and design flows from across the web. Please note that the content of these sets is not representative of all of the patterns I've captured. I tend to use tags more religiously and recommend that you look there for more patterns: www.flickr.com/photos/factoryjoe/tags

* Is this a required field? – Freelance Web Designer Lee Munroe

tags: web, design, form, required

When you’re designing a form most of you will mark required fields with an asterisk (*). Then you’ll add something like “* Required fields” to the top of the form. But surely we now live in a world where everyone already knows this. Do we really need to include a legend indicating what the asterisk means?
