Phone Death and Telecom Reorganization

My phone died yesterday morning. I think it's related to power-related issues. It wasn't like the power went out. It was on and off for a good amount of time. Can't say exactly since i was partially asleep.
In related news i've decided to change my telecommunications strategy. Speakeasy now provides OneLink, a DSL service which doesn't require an existing voice service. So i'm dropping Verizon (-18$ bare minimum local service), dropping Sprint (-7$ long distance), switching to OneLink (+6$), and switching to a mobile plan which includes unlimited long distance (+5$). Overall a 21$ savings per month.

What about your front door?

Does your front door to let us in need your phone line? And why are you paying more for OneLink? It's the same price for me (and it's hooked up BTW).

To let everyone know, i live in an apartment with a call box downstairs. Visitors can "call" me and i can buzz them in.

Yeah i suppose that won't work. I consider it a small loss.

OneLink is billed (uhh advertised) as $6 more. ...

If you focus on one set of speeds say 1.5 down and 768 up, you will see that OneLink is in fact 6$ more. So you may want to check your speeds.
